Walking Iris (Neomarica gracilis)

Pure white, fragrant flowers with chocolate-brown centers and blue and white curled petals appear in early spring. Although each flower lasts for only a day, the plant blooms successively for a couple of weeks from the same flower spike. Once the blossoms have faded, young plants emerge from the flower spike and their weight bends the stem to the ground where the plants take root, hence the name Walking Iris. This very adaptable houseplant is a vintage variety with iris-like foliage and fragrant springtime flowers.
