Ylang Ylang Vine (Artabotrys hexapetalus)
Climbing Ylang Ylang Vine is best known for its long-lasting fragrance. The exotic scent is pleasingly fruity and is most notable in the evening. The flowers emerge from the stem where a hook-like structure first appears, and usually several flowers present themselves at the same time. The blooms open green and age to a buttery-yellow and the plant reblooms over and over again with the flowers arising spring to fall. Ylang Ylang can be maintained in a container with strategic pruning. Our plants are grown from vegetative cuttings off of flowering wood so they flower easily in a pot as younger plants. Grow in full to partial sun in well-drained soil and provide support because the vine will quickly grow 4-5’ long. Wrap the vine around itself to make an outstanding display of flowers and fragrance that will fill a growing space with its inviting scent.
