The vine came in great condition in full sphagnum moss. I repotted to a 70/30 moss/bark mix and it's thrived. It's done great as an indoor plant that spends summers outside and loves the humidity and bright indirect light. It does need a good pole to climb up but with the right conditions and some light liquid feed in growing season it shoots up. Great Vine!
Have not gotten to repot yet as i received it yesterday but plants are gorgeous with perfectly healthy leaves and stems. It even came with two cuttings that have a growth tip and a third that doesn't have one yet. They came in spaghnum moss and i will grow them in that with a cork log as the trellis for a more natural look.
I ordered this vine in November 2018, it is now July 2020 and my vine is doing great! It is over 6 feet long now.
I have heard how slow these vines grow so I was shocked when mine began growing fast. The plant was pretty small when it came in about a year ago and its already grown to over 2 feet tall. It will be awhile before we ever get beans, at least a few more years, but the rate of growth is stunning. Beautiful, beautiful plant!
Vanilla vines typically won't flower/fruit until reaching at least 10 feet long, but the vine I got from Logee's has already grown 3 feet in just 9 months! The trick to rapid growth is high humidity (similar to orchids, bat flowers, etc.) combined with daily highs in the 75-90 degree range. If you are willing to sacrifice your summer air conditioning in a brightly-lit bathroom or shower, or if you have one of those miniature plastic-covered greenhouses, vanilla vines can do surprisingly well indoors.
