One of the easiest orchids to grow, Black Jewel Orchid is a terrestrial species from the tropical forests of South Asia with richly marked foliage that appears nearly black with attractive white to reddish pinstripes throughout the leaves. Flower spikes of pure white, yellow-throated blooms appear in winter. The roots are adaptable to most standard potting mixes, and it tolerates varying degrees of soil moisture. Grow in partial sun on a northern windowsill or as a featured specimen in a light garden. This trouble-free plant is a welcome addition to any indoor plant collection.
