Fig Tree ‘Petite Negra’ (Ficus carica)

Fig Tree ‘Petite Negra’ (Ficus carica)

SKU: R1710-4

4" Pot Size

‘Petite Negra’ is an amazing fruiting fig plant that produces medium- sized plump black juicy figs at a young age. This impressive fig is perfect for the indoor or patio gardener since it starts fruiting when plants are less than 12” tall. Grow in full sun on a windowsill or outside in warm temperatures. If growing conditions are kept warm, it will hold its foliage year-round. Under cool temperatures, the plant will drop its leaves and go dormant until temperatures warm up.

Fast grower and producer!!!

This little fig plant was EASY to grow! It produced its 1st fruit within a couple months!!! It continues to grow and produce. I have it in a medium size pot outside in our hot, humid, rainy, Southern climate. I highly recommend this as a 1st potted fruit plant.

Grows Fast

I bought this less than a year ago, and have it in a heated greenhouse. I haven't had any figs on it yet, but the plant is over 9 feet tall! I will have to top it soon as my GH is only 10 feet tall. Looking forward to getting some fruit.

Excellent producer

"Petite Negra" is my best-producing fig here in the Midwest (zone 6). Be aware that while this variety does start producing figs when small, it eventually gets to be a large tree unless kept pruned back (I have a couple of trees that are about 7 feet tall in tubs). Taste is fine, size medium, easy to propagate from dormant cuttings.

Fruits after just a few months

This is an amazing little Fig plant! I have only had it thru one season (Spring thru Summer) and it has already produced about 4 figs. The fruit is not large, but still it is amazing that such a small plant already produces fruit. I had purchased another bare root fig plant from a different online nursery and the plant died after a couple of months. I tried this 2 times and it still failed no matter how much I tried to keep it alive. This one from Logee's is still growing strong and producing fruit after just a few months.
