Highly fragrant flowers bloom during the spring to summer months in shades of cream to yellow. These delightful flowers are the floral scent used for “Joy” perfume. A native tree to SE Asia, Magnolia champaca is a fast grower that reaches 20’ tall when grown in tropical regions. If you are growing it as a container plant, you’ll need a large pot and regular pruning so it doesn’t outgrow the pot. Magnolias produce some of the most fragrant flowers in the world. Formerly known as Michelia champaca.

Robust and happy plant. Good size and with buds forming even! In clay pot now with some biochar, perlite, and worm castings.

Gorwing fast, not blooming

I purchased this plant a year ago. I planted it in a 12 inch container. I grew quite fast to three feet. I pruned to keep it to three feet. I let the soil go dry until leaves start to droop a bit before I water. I fertilize as indicated here in plant care. Plant looks happy and healthy. (It had some Spider Mites in winter, but I sprayed Neem oil solution and they went away).
