Peanut Butter Fruit Plant (Bunchosia armeniaca)

Peanut Butter Fruit Plant (Bunchosia armeniaca)

$24.95
SKU: R2137-4

4" Pot Size

Yes, believe it or not, this intriguing fruit from South America does have a hint of peanut butter flavor. During the first year the plant should bloom several times from March through October. Once plants reach maturity (8-10” pot), they will produce sprays of bright yellow blooms which turn into 1” oval fruits that ripen to red. Fruits have a soft, sweet, dense pulp surrounding a large seed. They produce two fruits per flower stem. The plants are naturally upright growers and for good fruit set, they need warmth and sun. In the North, container-grown plants will yield fruit by the fall. If grown in a greenhouse or conservatory with abundant heat, fruiting will be earlier. This plant is sometimes referred to as Bunchosia argentea.

Excellent container plant

Wonderful plant with a promising future. Sensitive to our 100F+ hot, dry summer weather in central Texas, but putting it under 50% shade cloth and it has exploded in growth in less than six months from its original 4" pot size. Loves foliar feeding with new leaves about 5" wide.

Wow!

I am so pleased with my purchase. I was worried I would have to wait until the weather was warmer for Logee's to send my backordered Peanut Butter Fruit---but I received it today, less than 2 weeks since ordering. The plant, in a 4" pot, is healthy & beautiful---lots of leaves and a substantial trunk, as well as a healthy root system. The shipping box was a little mangled, but my little tree had not suffered. Thank you, Logee's!

Very Unique Flowers

This was something i had purchased in the hopes of some future day getting one of the fruit that is supposed to taste of peanut. This day has not come but this plant has bloomed yellow flowers since i recieved it. They almost look like plastic petals before the real ones pop out. This has very large green leaves and a word of caution, if you have spider mites in your home they will be quickly drawn to this plant. Over all a great house plant for the yellow flowers, and as it grows it will make a good patio plant.
