Purple Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea venosa)

Sarracenias and other carnivorous plants are some of the most unusual manifestations of nature. Purple Pitcher Plant grows about 6-8” tall and has short green pitchers that become heavily veined and a deep burgundy purple. Downward hairs in the opening of each pitcher entice insects to enter and meet their demise. In spring, a flower emerges out of the center of the plant. Keep the soil evenly moist in a saucer of water to replicate their natural bog environment.
