Dutch Clover (Trifolium repens ‘Atropurpureum’)

Dutch Clover is a hardy ground cover that can be used as a lawn substitute in hard-to-mow areas, or as an unusual filler plant in mixed containers or garden bed edges. The foliage has three or four green leaves with rosy-purple markings in the center of each leaf and green margins. It spreads by underground runners and one plant will often reach 12” wide or more. White flowers appear in late spring or early summer to attract pollinating insects. This nitrogen-fixing plant builds up poor soils and it is virtually insect and disease free.
