Guava ‘Mexican White’ (Psidium guajava)
Guavas are an easy-to-grow, high-yielding fruiting
plant for large containers or
they may be grown in the
garden in tropical zones.
‘Mexican White,’ or ‘Mexican
Cream’ as it’s also called, is
native to Mexico and Central
America. The round fruit has
slightly yellow skin and the
inner flesh is creamy white,
very sweet with a delicious
taste and fine texture. There
are some small seeds. Guava
plants are fast growers and
need regular applications of
fertilizer. In warm climates,
guavas will fruit in year-round
cycles that last 60-90 days
between flowering and ripe
fruit. For the best flavor, allow the fruit to ripen on the tree. White guavas are high in
vitamins A and C and may be eaten fresh, juiced, preserved or used in baking.
