Hardy Terrestrial Orchid ‘Kuchibeni’ (Bletilla striata ‘Kuchibeni’)

Blooming for 4-6 weeks in early to mid-summer. Hardy Terrestrial Orchid ‘Kuchibeni’ has small, cattleya- like flowers that are soft pink to white with a purple-highlighted, furrowed lip. The flowers arise on tall spikes that can have 5-20 orchids per spike. Green pleated leaves form clumps as the plant matures. Grow in rich, well-drained soil in partial sun. This hardy orchid is virtually disease free. Kuchibeni means ‘amazing lipstick’ in Japanese for its colorful purple lip.
