Low Shoebutton (Ardisia humilis)
Perfectly adapted as an indoor houseplant, Low Shoebutton, or Ardisia humilis, is well-known for its showy berries and tolerance to low light and erratic watering. Also called Jet Berry, the leathery, deep green leaves and upright habit make a great foliage plant and clusters of rose-lavender blooms appear on the new growth throughout the summer. The showy flowers are followed by clusters of black berries. It’s a somewhat slow growing plant that can be kept under 2’ in height and grows well in shady or partial sunny areas.
