Also called Butterfly Ginger Lily, clusters of white blooms with yellow centers arise on a spike from the 3-5’ tall foliage in late summer and early fall and emit an intense fragrance. Multiple butterfly-shaped flowers emerge from the bud over a 6-week period. This tropical ginger is a strong grower and the foliage arises from an underground rhizome. Hardy to zone 8, it’s a great garden plant in the south or perfect for containers in the north since it’s one of the nicest gingers for the home landscape. White Ginger Lily is the recipient of the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
