Black Raspberry Plant ‘Munger’ (Rubus occidentalis)

Shiny black raspberries have a sweet, delicious flavor and are excellent for eating fresh, freezing for later or making jams or pies. Also called Black Caps, ‘Munger’ Black Raspberry is a mid-summer fruit with stout canes that seem to be more resistant to fungal diseases. It typically bears fruit on 2-year-old canes, and after fruiting, these canes should be pruned out to make room for the new one-year-old canes that are growing and will fruit the following year. Black raspberries are higher in antioxidants than red raspberries, which may explain why black raspberries are said to have potential cancer-fighting properties.
