Betel Leaf, or Piper betle, is a subtropical vine in the same family as black pepper and kava. It thrives in the shade and does best when given a stake or trellis to climb. The plant features attractive, heart-shaped leaves with a glossy texture, which make it an excellent addition to your garden or indoor spaces. Betel Leaf is a popular plant in Asia, where it has been cultivated for centuries for its medicinal properties. The leaves of this plant have stimulant properties and are often used to create a mild, euphoric effect. In traditional medicine, it is believed to have antiseptic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a highly valued herb. It has a slightly peppery taste and is often used in Southeast Asian cuisine to wrap food or to add flavor to dishes. For optimal growth, be sure to place your Betel Leaf plant in a partially sunlit location and keep the soil moist.

Special Note: Special Note: Piper plants naturally excrete small, round grains, or growth sugars, on the undersides of the leaves. While sometimes confused for insect eggs or a sign of disease, these sugar grains are actually a sign of normal, healthy growth, and are nothing to be worried about.
