Grown for its shiny silver
veined leaves, this Ecuadorian gesneriad
is easy to grow as a houseplant. It

shows off its purple to pinkish flowers
along its upright
stems. Known for
its satiny sheen, the
leaves tend to change
color depending on
the angle in which
they are viewed. It
likes warm temperatures
