Himalayan Lantern (Agapetes ‘Ludgvan Cross’)
An excellent subject for containers, Himalayan Lantern has long arching
branches with dangling clusters of 1 1/2” slender pink blooms highlighted
with defined darker pink etching. The small, narrow, dark green leaves cover
the stems to create a dense form and in time it will fill out the pot. A member
of the blueberry family, its parents hail from the Himalayas where it grows
in partially shaded and cool environments. The base of the plant forms a
woody caudex that allows it to take dry conditions in the roots. We often grow
Himalayan Lantern in hanging baskets and with a little pruning, it becomes a
handsome specimen flowering from spring through fall.
