Night Blooming Cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum)
Pure white flowers, the size of a dinner plate, open as soon as the sun goes down and stay open all night, then close in the morning. This wondrous sight is also a heady experience because of the intoxicating fragrance. It blooms in waves during the summer months, with sometimes as many as 15 flowers open at once. Nature's ability to manifest such a magnificent creation leaves us in awe of this wonderful epiphyllum. As for all members of the Orchid Cactus family, a period of dryness and cool nighttime temperatures in the winter ensures summer bloom.

  1. Fascinating plant! Review by Sylvia
How do you rate this product?

I had a huge Night Blooming Cereus that I had to give to a neighbor when I moved to South Carolina. I hated leaving it - my neighbors and I would set alarm clocks to go out and watch the blooms open.. . . . . like a block party in the middle of the night. The blooms are spectacular.

I am excited to get started growing another one. (Posted on 5/23/2018)
