Passion Flower ‘Panama’ (Passiflora edulis)

Passion Flower ‘Panama’ (Passiflora edulis)

$19.95
SKU: R2197-2

2.5" Pot Size

One-third larger than the regular passion fruit, ‘Panama’ is a strong grower and it produces extra large, delicious fruit that can be eaten fresh or made into juice. The fruit is reddish-purple on the outside and white on the inside with golden colored custard-like edible pulp. This self-fertile, fruiting variety has good resistance to root rot. The lovely flowers have white petals and frilly purple-to-white filaments. Once the flowers arrive, it’s a sign that the late summer fruit will soon follow. If flowering indoors, hand pollination will help with fruit set.

Flowers and Grows, No Fruit

This came in healthy and grew like crazy, and even flowers regularly! That said, I hand pollinate indoors pretty efficiently, and not a single fruit has come from this. The description says self-fertile, but I might have to try ordering another flowering/fruiting species to cross-pollinate with. The flowers will close, then rot and fall off once pollinated. Not sure what's going on.

Hi Alyx!
Thank you for your review! As this plant is still very young, it unfortunately will not be able to fruit quite yet. The plants that we sell are starter plants and generally won't fruit for about 2-3 years.
