Pine Cone Euphorbia (Euphorbia bupleurifolia)
Pine Cone Euphorbia is an unusual and fun plant to grow. Originating in South Africa, it develops a fat caudex that looks similar to a pine cone but it’s topped with long green leaves. Attractive yellowish-green flowers add to its appeal. It tends to go dormant in winter so restrict your watering significantly. Cold temperatures and over-watering can cause its demise. For best results grow in a clay pot in porous cactus soil. In summer, feed with a balanced fertilizer that includes micronutrients.
