Terrestrial Orchid ‘Wild Thing’ (Phaius microburst)
Vigorous and vibrant, Phaius 'Wild Thing' is a fast growing hybrid with vibrant colored blooms. The coral-pink blossoms have orange markings and the wildly colored lip is ivory with burgundy splashes. There may be 15 blossoms per spike. This terrestrial orchid is fully mature in one year and a large specimen by the second year. It blooms in late winter/early spring and the long-lasting flowers grow on tall spikes held high above the foliage. Grow in low light with lots of water and fertilizer. Sphagnum moss makes an ideal potting medium for Phaius since it retains moisture well.
