I'm adding to the review I made last year. The plant had a hard time surviving winter indoors, I thought I had overeatered and killed it. I gave it some wood ash from my fireplace and kept a close look on it. In the spring, it truly rebounded after I fertilized it. This summer, it has given many blooms over several weeks in the same eastern windowsill as last year and still has several more developing. The scent fills the house at night for a couple of hours, it makes you feel like you're in a tropical garden. I very highly recommend it for indoor gardeners. It doesn't grow too fast so will stay manageable for several years and will fill your house with an incredible aroma at night.
I bought this plant in winter and repotted it. It made several new branches and in July it gave 4 big, fragrant blooms indoors. I have it in a southeastern facing window. I cannot wait for it to get bigger and produce more of the deliciously scented blooms.
I bought this plant 3 years ago, along with another variety of same species. (That variety even has bigger blooms). I have never been disappointed. I live in central Florida and so far this year, it has been a non-stop bloomer. (I currently have a dozen blooms open at once-the scent is heavenly, especially at night) I have it in a large 18" pot. In a partly sunny location. In the old care instructions that were on this site, it was suggested that the plant does not like an acid soil. And correct they were, I can attest to that. I fertilize it every other week in the summer with a bloom orientated type of fertilizer. (The type that instantly dissolves in water. Usually a tablespoon to a gallon of water.) But before I fertilize with that solution,, I sprinkle about a Tablespoon of Lime on top of the soil away from the trunk by about 2 inches. Then water it in with the flowering fertilizer. NOTE: Do not use the lime that you can find in a small bag, which are mostly made of oyster shells and very granular. Use the powder type lime that comes in a 50 pound bag and is used for lawns. (I'll probably never use it all, but the granular lime just does not cut it for this plant.) The type of lime (and quantity) is what makes all the difference in the world to this plant. This plant also does not seem to have any bug problems either. This plant is worth every penny that Logee's charges, and I can't praise it enough. I am tempted to (and most likely will) buy yet a 3rd plant, of this aroma powerhouse. I am so glad they have re-introduced it. Provided you are in Zone #9 ,or 10 or have a greenhouse, and have a somewhat green thumb, one can't go wrong.
