The Tree Tomato plant, also known as Tamarillo, is a small, fast-growing tree or shrub native to the Andes Mountains in South America. It produces edible, egg-shaped fruit reminiscent of plum tomatoes that tastes like custardy guava. Considered a delicacy in South America, the sweet, tangy fruit have a firm texture and can be eaten raw, cooked, or used in jellies, sauces, and desserts. The fruit holds well, and can be harvested from late summer into the winter. With its large, heart-shaped dark green and glossy leaves, the Tree Tomato plant is easy-to-grow and will start producing fruit very quickly if given full sun.

This plant looks very healthy. It quickly put on new growth and looks great. Brought it in for the night since we are expecting near freezing temps here in Central Florida tonight. Really looking forward to this plant and it's fruit. Thank you for sending it with such great care.
Thank you so much, Rosea! We're thrilled your Tree Tomato arrived in such wonderful condition and is already thriving with new growth—that's exactly what we love to hear. Your care in bringing it inside for the cold snap shows you're going to be an amazing plant parent, and we can't wait for you to enjoy those delicious fruits! We're so grateful for your kind words and your business.

It arrived about 1.5' tall already with intact flowers and ready to bloom/produce fruit. I'm always happy with the health of Logee's plants on arrival.
This is an easy growing tree. I received the plant sometime in June as a rooted cutting, now now by September the plant is 3 to 4 ft tall and many flowers. Few fruits already set. Cannot be happier with a purchase. Already spread the word to my gardener clubs. Thank you Logees!
We found that the plant takes a little time to get acclimated, then grows fast! Ours liked to be planted in the garden during the season. It took a long time for the flowers to produce fruit and the fruit ripened very slowly. We're in zone 6 and brought the (very tall) plant in with its green fruits last fall. They seemed to ripen but then tasted really really awful, bitter, pungent, unpalatable. Suspect it would have gone otherwise if they'd ripened in the sun. Fun nightshade cousin, definitely recommend.
This is an update to my first review. Many of the fruit did indeed ripen, and I'm continuing to eat them - very tasty. However, I allowed the plant to remain outdoors during an unexpected light frost, which extensively toasted the leaves, despite the plant being under a protected eave. I moved the pot into a greenhouse, where it appears to be recovering, with new leaves emerging.
