Aloe erinacea (Aloe erinacea)

This rare and unusual aloe has fleshy, spiky, sea-green leaves. The soft, spiky leaf tips become brownish-black with age. It does best in a small pot in well-draining cactus soil. Once the plant is mature, small flowers arise on a single stalk. Discovered in Namibia in the 1980s, this drought tolerant plant is an easy grower that needs little attention but brings interest and beauty to a sunny windowsill.
