The fruit has an elongated shape that tapers to a point and ripens to golden yellow. It’s considered by many to be the best tasting, dessert quality mango. The fruit ripens from summer to fall depending on your climate. Mangoes can be eaten green or ripe. We prefer to harvest them once they ripen to golden yellow. They may be eaten as fresh fruit and are also tasty in fruit salads, desserts or juices. Grow in a large pot and move outside for the summer in northern zones or plant directly in the ground in warm climates. ‘Nam Doc Mai’ is a prolific fruiter.
