Mexican Breadfruit (Monstera deliciosa)

Mexican Breadfruit (Monstera deliciosa)

SKU: R1913-6

6" Pot Size

The large shiny green leaves reach 3’ across and have curious holes that resemble Swiss cheese. Although not as rare as the variegated variety, Mexican Breadfruit creates a living screen with its aerial roots that anchor to a trellis, moss pole or wall. Each leaf is unique with no two the same and it can be seen in the understory of a jungle climbing on tropical trees. It also produces large corn cob-like, edible fruit that’s 8-10” long called breadfruit that ripens to a sweet pineapple flesh. In the aroid family, it produces impressive flowers with a white hood like other spaths. Monstera deliciosa was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Merit. This is a plant in a 6” pot. Soon, the unusual splits in the leaves will start to form and become more pronounced as the plant matures.
