Neem Tree (Azadirachta indica)
This is the true Neem Tree that is grown commercially in India. The oil from the neem seed is sold as a leaf polisher but it has a long history as an insecticide as well as an industrial lubricant. Medicinally, neem is used by Ayurvedic practitioners to treat a multitude of ailments. Neem trees flower once they reach 4-5’ tall. The fragrant, white flowers grow on long inflorescences. The fruits and seeds are the source of neem oil. In northern zones, Neem trees go dormant in the winter.
