Vanilla on Wooden Totem (Vanilla planifolia)

Start growing your own vanilla beans! The all-green, Vanilla planifolia is the true vanilla that supplies the vanilla beans for pure vanilla extract that’s coveted by bakers around the world. This vining plant produces yellow orchid-like flowers that need to be hand-pollinated to produce vanilla beans. Since this vigorous vine needs support, we’re providing a wooden totem that the plant is climbing on. As the plant grows, simply continue to wrap the vining branches around the totem. Dry down the potting media between waterings and the vanilla plant can also be spritzed with water or Orchid Myst. This is a large plant in a 6” pot as shown in the photo.
