This exciting new introduction, Baptisia ‘Aurora,’ features color-shifting flower spires. Young flowers emerge yellow but change to a lovely purple as the flowers mature transitioning from the bottom of the spike to the top. The tall flower spikes show off a dazzling array of color on the upright shrub creating a sensational flowering masterpiece when in full bloom. The flowering season starts in May and goes on for 2-3 weeks with an additional week or two fade period before the seed pods arrive. Baptisia is a well-known pollinator plant. Bees often land on the older lower blossoms first for the nectar and work their way upward to the pollen-rich blossoms on top.
